This Privacy Policy explains how Car Play Connect: Auto & Sync ("App," "we," "our," or "us"), developed and operated by ASLI BASARAN, accesses, uses, processes, and protects information when you use our iOS application.
The App does not require an account, does not display third-party advertisements, and does not currently offer subscriptions or in-app purchases.
Questions or privacy requests: carplayconnect.support@gmail.com
Plain-English Summary
✓ No account required. No name, email, or phone number needed to use the App.
✓ We do not display advertisements and do not offer subscriptions.
✓ We do not sell your personal information.
✓ We do not use Apple's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) and do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies.
✓ Your contacts, saved places, favorites, history, and app preferences stay on your device and are never uploaded to us.
✓ To provide maps, routes, search, and weather, your location and the places you search for are sent to Apple's services (MapKit and WeatherKit). We do not receive them.
✓ Spotify opens in its own app. The App never signs in to Spotify and never sees what you play there.
✓ We use Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics to understand pseudonymous usage patterns and fix crashes.
Certain features require access to information on your iPhone or iPad. In every case below, access occurs only when necessary for a feature you choose to use, and only after you grant the applicable iOS permission. We do not operate our own servers, so none of this information is uploaded to us. Where a feature needs an Apple service to work, the table says so.
| What | Why | When |
|---|---|---|
| Location | Show your position on the map, calculate routes and travel times, give turn-by-turn directions, show your current speed, and find nearby places (gas stations, charging stations, parking, restaurants, pharmacies, and similar categories). To do this, your location is sent to Apple's MapKit service. | Only while the App is open and you use the Home, map, navigation, or speed screens, and only after you grant Location permission |
| Weather | Show current conditions and your city name. Your approximate location is sent to Apple WeatherKit and Apple's map service for this purpose. | While the Home or driving screens are open, and only after you grant Location permission |
| Search text | Addresses and place names you type, and the destinations you save, are sent to Apple's MapKit service to find matching places and their coordinates | Only when you search for a place or save a destination |
| Contacts | Show your contacts in the driving interface so you can call them, and show contact addresses as navigation destinations. When you choose a contact's address as a destination, that address text is sent to Apple's MapKit service to find its location. | Only after you grant Contacts permission |
| Calling functionality | Start calls from the driving interface using the iOS phone system. The App keeps a list of calls you started from the App (contact name and number) on your device only. It does not record calls or access call audio, and it cannot answer calls. | Only when you tap to call |
| Saved places and history | Your quick destinations (label, address, coordinates), your last 15 searched places, favorite contacts, favorite radio stations, and followed podcasts | Stored locally on your device; never uploaded to us |
| App preferences | Personalize your experience: distance and temperature units, traffic side, selected radio country, map style, whether the screen stays on while driving, and your last-used music source | Stored locally via iOS UserDefaults; updates whenever you change a setting |
| Notifications | Send occasional reminders (to save your home or work address, to continue a podcast episode you did not finish, and tips for using the App) and alerts when a podcast you follow publishes a new episode. Reminders are scheduled on your device. To find new episodes, the App occasionally downloads the public feeds of the podcasts you follow in the background, the same way it does when you open them. Notifications are only delivered between 10:00 and 21:00 local time and are not shown while the driving screen is open. | Only after you grant Notification permission; you can turn each type off in the App's Settings or turn notifications off in iOS Settings |
| Usage counters | A count of app sessions and of actions such as saving a destination or starting playback (not what you saved or played), used only to decide when to show a reminder or the App Store rating request | Stored locally on your device; never uploaded to us |
You can revoke Location or Contacts permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → [Permission]. We do not intentionally send your precise GPS coordinates, addresses, contact names, or phone numbers to Google Analytics for Firebase. When you start navigation, Analytics records only a coarse trip-distance range (for example, "1–5 km"), not where you are going.
The App does not connect to your Spotify account. When Spotify is your chosen music source, the App shows a button that opens the Spotify app, or Spotify's App Store page if it isn't installed. The App does not sign in to Spotify, does not read or control what Spotify plays, and receives no information from Spotify. To label that button, the App checks on your device whether Spotify is installed; the result is not sent anywhere. Once Spotify is open, your use of it is governed by Spotify's Privacy Policy.
If you choose to connect Apple Music, the App uses Apple's MusicKit framework, with your permission, to show your library and recently played songs, search the Apple Music catalog, and play music. Playback requires an active Apple Music subscription. This information is provided by Apple and is not sent to us. Analytics records only whether connecting succeeded or why it failed (for example, permission denied or no subscription), never song titles or your listening history. Your use of Apple Music is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. You can remove the connection in the App's Settings. The Apple Music permission itself is managed in iOS Settings.
The App's radio feature uses the Radio Browser public, community-maintained API to list internet radio stations by the country you choose. When you select a station, the audio stream is delivered directly from the broadcaster, which receives your IP address like any other internet request. We do not operate our own streaming servers and do not track which stations you listen to. Some stations stream only over unencrypted HTTP. In that case the audio is delivered without encryption. Your favorite stations are stored only on your device.
To find podcasts, the App uses Apple's public iTunes Search API. Your search terms and your device's region are sent to Apple to return matching shows and popular shows in your region. When you open a show, the App downloads that show's public RSS feed directly from its publisher. Episode audio is streamed directly from the publisher or its hosting provider, some of which use unencrypted HTTP. These publishers receive your IP address as with any internet request. The shows you follow are stored only on your device. We do not track which episodes you listen to.
We use Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics, both provided by Google LLC, to understand general App usage and to detect and fix crashes.
Analytics may process information such as: app opens and sessions, screens or features viewed, general feature interactions, session duration, app version, operating-system information, device model, language, approximate regional information (derived by Google from your IP address), an automatically generated app-instance identifier, and Apple's Identifier for Vendor (IDFV) where applicable.
The events the App itself records are limited to: which introduction screens were viewed and whether the location prompt was answered; which tabs were selected; that navigation started, with a coarse trip-distance range and whether alternative routes were available; whether connecting Apple Music succeeded, with a fixed error category if it failed; whether the notification permission prompt was shown and answered, and where it was shown; that a notification was opened, with its type (for example "home" or "podcast"); and that the App Store rating request was triggered, with what triggered it, or that the rating card was tapped. Whether you actually leave a rating is not visible to us.
Crashlytics may process: stack traces, device model, iOS version, and app version at the time of a crash.
We do not intentionally send the following to Google Analytics for Firebase or Crashlytics: your name, email address, phone number, address book contents, precise GPS coordinates, your music listening history, or call contents.
This data is pseudonymous: it is associated with a random app-instance identifier, not with your name, email address, or phone number. Where applicable law (such as GDPR) requires a legal basis for this processing, we rely on legitimate interest — understanding aggregate usage and fixing crashes to keep the App reliable — rather than data that identifies you individually. The App does not currently offer an in-app control to disable Analytics; you may still limit data collection generally through your iOS device settings (e.g., disabling "Share iPhone Analytics" in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements).
Firebase generates an identifier associated with a particular installation of the App, used to calculate metrics such as active users and sessions. It is not created from your name, email, or phone number.
Firebase may use Apple's IDFV, an identifier shared across apps from the same developer on your device, for analytics purposes. We do not use IDFV to identify you by name or to track you across apps from unrelated developers.
The App does not use Apple's IDFA. We do not use IDFA for advertising, attribution, profiling, or cross-app tracking of any kind.
The App does not display third-party advertisements and does not use advertising networks, behavioral advertising, remarketing, or data brokers. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because the App does not engage in cross-app or cross-site tracking, it does not request Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertising networks or data brokers.
Unless you voluntarily provide it when contacting us, we do not require or intentionally collect: your full name, postal address, government ID numbers, passport or driver's license information, financial or banking information, payment card information, account passwords, or health information.
The App does not currently require user registration or an account.
The App does not currently offer paid subscriptions, in-app purchases, or payment processing. If this changes in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly before the feature becomes available.
Information described in this Policy is used to: provide the functionality you request (maps, navigation, contacts, calling, music playback, radio); remember your preferences; understand general App usage; identify and fix technical issues; maintain reliability; and comply with applicable legal obligations. We do not use information collected through the App for targeted advertising.
We do not sell personal information. Information may be processed by service providers who perform functions necessary for the App (Google, Apple, Radio Browser), each governed by their own terms. Radio stations and podcast publishers receive your IP address when they deliver the audio you choose. We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to valid legal process, or protect our legal rights. If the App or its associated business is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable privacy protections.
The App's requests to service APIs (Apple, Google, Radio Browser, and podcast feeds) use HTTPS. Some radio stations and podcast audio files are only available over unencrypted HTTP; that audio is played directly from the broadcaster or publisher. We do not operate our own servers, so no personal data is stored on infrastructure we control. iOS application sandboxing and permission controls provide additional protection. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, but we follow industry best practices.
You may: deny any iOS permission when requested; revoke Location, Contacts, Apple Music, or Notification permission at any time; turn reminders or new-episode notifications off in the App's Settings; disconnect Apple Music from within the App; limit device-level analytics sharing through iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements; and uninstall the App to remove locally stored data. Some features may not function if a required permission is denied.
Depending on where you live, applicable privacy law may give you rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information, and to lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority. Because the App does not require an account, we may have limited ability to identify information associated specifically with you; where necessary, we may request limited information to verify a privacy request. Contact: carplayconnect.support@gmail.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our legal bases for processing are: legitimate interest (pseudonymous analytics and crash reporting to maintain and improve the App) and your consent (the iOS permissions you grant, such as Location, Contacts, and Apple Music). You may lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority.
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. You may have rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of certain processing under applicable California law.
We process minimal, pseudonymous data on the basis of legitimate interest to operate and improve the App. No personal data is transferred to third parties beyond what is described in this Policy.
Our third-party service providers (Google, Apple) operate internationally, and information may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where required by applicable law, these providers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards.
The App is designed as a driving-related application and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under the minimum age applicable in your jurisdiction. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will take appropriate action.
The App may allow you to open third-party apps, websites, or services (for example, Spotify or Apple Maps). Once you interact directly with an independent third-party service, that service's own privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of independent third parties.
We may update this Privacy Policy as the App, our technology, third-party services, or applicable legal requirements change. Changes will be reflected by an updated "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. If a change materially affects how personal information is processed, we may provide additional notice within the App where required by law.
Car Play Connect: Auto & Sync is an independent mobile application. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or operated by Apple Inc. The App does not represent or replace Apple's official CarPlay product or a factory-installed vehicle infotainment system. Apple, Apple CarPlay, iPhone, iOS, Apple Music, and Apple Maps are trademarks of Apple Inc. Other trademarks referenced in the App (including Spotify) remain the property of their respective owners.
